What is Baby Steps Walk?
On August 26, 2017, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Beta Psi Zeta Chapter, will host “Baby Steps Walk” fundraising event at the Fontenelle Park Pavilion, 4405 Fontenelle Blvd, from 8-10 A.M. (registration 7:15-8 A.M.). “Baby Steps Walk ” is a one-of-a-kind event to support our local Stork’s Nest sites. The Stork’s Nest is a cooperative project of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. and the March of Dimes Foundation, in existence for more than forty years. Stork’s Nest aims to increase the number of low-income women receiving early and regular prenatal care in an effort to prevent cases of low birth-weight, premature births, and infant deaths.
The funds raised will be donated to the local nest site at The Nebraska Medical Olson Center for Women’s Health. It is imperative that we target low-income women with this program designed to promote prenatal care participation and encourage healthy behaviors during pregnancy through two components-incentives and education. Stork’s Nest clients “earn” points toward incentives such as maternity or baby care items though a variety of positive, health-promoting activities: attending prenatal visits, participating in prenatal education classes, stopping at-risk behaviors such as smoking cigarettes, consuming alcoholic beverages, and reducing stress.
Your tax-deductible donation to the Stork’s Nest can be made online by registering early July 11- August 20, 2017:
